Experience the unique and combined pleasure of a revered Classic Album matched to and played from a superb high end Audio system, via a superb compare: Mr. Drayton.
A year after giving up life on the road, The Beatles gave us what Time magazine described as ‘a historic departure in the progress of music’ From Psychedelia to Music Hall it’s a multi-coloured adventure in sound. And the songs aren’t half bad.
Mr. Drayton is your true music anorak with an extensive record collection.
Tired of life on MP3 shuffle, he un-wrapped his vinyl collection six years ago and began presenting Mr. Drayton’s Record Player at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne. Originally booked for a four week season, it has now entered its sixth year.
The Record Player has been invited to spin some discs in some prestigious North East Venues including Sage, Gateshead, Baltic, Durham Gala Theatre, Live Theatre and yes a tent in Sunderland.
Each presentation is preceded with a ‘cut out and keep’ guide to the album.
Mobile phones and chitter-chatter are discouraged ( but maybe a glass of wine from the Hotel bar if you’re not driving! )
The Record player brings you a chance to really hear an album, as it was meant to be heard, in its entirety, from start to finish.
It’s amazing what you hear when you listen.
Using Unison Research amplification, Opera speakers and Pro-Ject turntables these really are must hear sessions
At the time of going to press these are the session times for the Sunday:
11.00am – 11.45am - Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band – The Beatles.
12.30pm – 1.15pm - Back To Black – Amy Winehouse.
