It is all because our ancestors knew the exact direction of a breaking twig.
Allan Hendry, was twelve when he built his first speakers. Probably what lead to a degree in Electrical Engineering, and an international technical career. He was a main board director of a FTSE100 aerospace company, and is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
But something always puzzled him about loudspeaker design. Our lives once depended on knowing the direction of a breaking twig In the dark. We have to do this by sensing the impulses in the sound – because we can’t tell the direction of a continuous tone.
Wondering why loudspeaker designs don’t try to produce accurate impulses, Allan registered the name MonoPulse, and set about designing the ultimate impulse-accurate loudspeaker - to give an acoustic image like no other.
It took ten years – but he succeeded – and introduced the Model 42 – the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
More realistically, these are now the 550 watt, 20Hz bass Model A, and the slimmer 300 watt Model S. These custom-made speakers have evolved over fifteen years, are exported all over the world, famed for that accurate acoustic image
Now – the next step - active streaming versions with integral amplifiers. These give the convenience, ease of use, and musical choice of streaming – plus MonoPulse realism.
The Model SA, smaller version, was introduced last month – now, for the Audio Show we have:
The MonoPulse Reference Model AA. At 110cm tall, this is a smooth perfectionist design. The ultimate stand-alone streaming speaker, it features bi-amp and bi-wire, with the Model A 20Hz bass.
