ANOTHER REASON WHY THE AUSTRALIAN HI FI & AV SHOW IS SIMPLY THE BEST IN TOWN.
An exclusive event brought to you by Magenta Audio/Halcro, Australian Singer, songwriter guitarist Mary Webb will be appearing live in the Chapel Suite at this years Australian Hi Fi & AV Show performing songs from her latest album ‘Love Like Planets’ - recorded at SnowGhost Studios high in the mountains of Montana in little town called Whitefish in the winter of 2017.
SnowGhost is a world class facility and is one of the best equipped recording studios in the world – using amongst other equipment several sets of Halcro DM amplifiers in their reference monitoring system.
"Music has the ability to get humans to circle around a fire – its sounds stoke the aural, leading to the visual, and still more, the emotional. The relationship between humans and sound is wonderfully complex – especially when we find ways to emulate, manipulate and enhance the soundtrack of our lives with musical instruments. Music is the experience of humans being." Thoughts from SnowGuost
Joining Mary on the recording were a number of superb musicians from Portland Oregon in sessions that were pretty well live throughout
Engineered by Brett Allen and produced by Mike Kirkham the album was recorded on 2 inch tape using techniques and methods reminiscent of the great albums of the 1970’s and 80’s.
Backing vocals and various ornaments were added in the mixing process in Mike’s world class recording studio in Uraidla in the Adelaide Hills over the month of June 2017.
Finally the album was mastered at the the Gavin Lurssen Mastering Lab in the US by Ruben Cohen.
After each Mary Webb concert at this years show you will be able to experience in a full AV Presentation the making of Love Like Planets. Presented by producer Mike Kirkham you will be taken through the process of “what goes into making a great album” and get to ask Mike any questions you want.
Using an AV set-up Mike will project the full Pro-tools beds (multitracks) of Love Like Planets onto a screen and discuss in detail production ideas - including how and why particular elements (reverbs, compressors etc) were utilised in the recording of the album, as well as answer questions about production ideas (instrumentation etc) and recording in general. Mike will hone-in on the details and creative workings of this exciting album in what will be an absorbing and entertaining experience for visitors.
